| "My personal focus when doing landscapes has often been the distant views, space and perspective. I suspect this has to do with a sense of freedom and excitement about what’s out there, instead of what I’m stubbing my toes on. I find these paintings to be meditative in the process. I love working with the many layers of transparent colors and how they interact with the textured surface while creating a sense of harmony. With any painting I do there is a focused exchange between what happens materially as the work progresses and an intuitive understanding of color and composition that tells me when something is “right." | |
