| "My paintings are a metaphor for living. The small towns hidden in the northern valleys remind me of my childhood. I try to capture the familiarity of small town life where the whole town becomes the backyard for a child's explorations and imaginings. The relationships of the buildings to each other and to the land reflect the close relationships of life. Fence posts without wires, roads without lines, and unlatched, opened gates are meant to allow the viewer as they have allowed me, as a child, to wander through imaginary landscapes. They are my life experiences and the roads I have yet to travel." |
